USPS Suspends Service to These Countries Temporarily
In order to stop the spread of Coronavirus, many countries have closed their borders and halted any commercial flights in and out. As a result, shipping carriers are unable to deliver any mail or parcels to those destinations…including USPS. This has not only resulted in international mailing disruptions to dozens of countries, but now, also in a total suspension of service. As of April 1st, 2022, USPS has suspended service to the following list of countries, and has requested that all customers refrain from entering items addressed to any of these countries into the USPS system until further notice.

What Happens if I Already Sent a Package to One of These Countries?
If you’ve already sent a package to one of these countries, you’ll admittedly find yourself in a tough spot. If your parcel is already in transit, the destination country will likely hold it until further notice. Therefore, the best thing to do would be to contact your customer and set realistic expectations that he or she will not receive the package for quite some time. USPS will also likely not refund your postage in this case, but if you used online shipping software to buy your label, you may be eligible to contact their support staff and receive a credit.

I’ve been waiting 6 months for registered mail of death certificates coming to me in Canada. I don’t know what to do. People want these death certificates but the United States is a third world country now and does not have the ability to send a simple envelope to Canada. I feel so sorry for Americans having to live in that awful country.

you should be so lucky to live in the United States of America. Canda still bows to a Queen who does nothing but hold the title.

Hate to tell you Lynn, mail from Canada is extremely slow. So you can stop making your disparaging remarks about the USA. Not appreciated and not helpful.

As for New Zealand, this excuse of COVID stopping international flights, therefore no mail, does not hold water. Air NZ sends one flight daily to the US, so that means at least one flight returning daily. Same for Australia.
These countries are part of the 5 EYES INTELLIGENCE NETWORK and they cannot deliver the mail ??? WTF There has to be some other explanation.
The US has plenty of surplus airplanes and all the fiat currency they want to print. There is no excuse for failing make the rounds and deliver the freaking MAIL !

I lived in NZ and Australia for 12 years and know that this is a bunch of BS. IT makes me so mad- post was already taking 4-6 weeks to get there due to inefficiency and now this! What ever happened to neither rain nor sleep nor gloom of night etc? Assholes

Since my packages were in transit and have now been returned to me will the USPS be refunded the postage?

MIchelle

My item processed through CHICAGO IL INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION CENTER 15th August, 2021 and ” is currently in transit to the destination” The destination is Australia.
By the list of countries on this page, Australia should not be a problem.
When would I realistically expect to see movement on my package?
