UPS is Ending Remote Work for Corporate Employees

According to multiple reports citing an internal company memo sent by UPS leadership, UPS is ending remote work for corporate employees. The policy change will reportedly take effect on March 4th, 2024. From that day forward, corporate UPS employees must work in person at UPS offices five days per week.

The Company’s Hybrid Model Previously Called for Three Days per Week in the Office

During the Coronavirus pandemic of 2020, UPS allowed corporate employees to work remotely. However, this policy shifted in the second half of 2023, when UPS issued a mandate calling corporate employees to report to the office three days per week. Beginning on March 4th, 2024, the company’s hybrid model will give way to full-time in-person work, with corporate employees working from UPS campuses five days per week.

The decision comes less than five months after Teamsters members ratified a five-year deal with the company, which ended the threat of a potential strike and resulted in changes such as wage increases for drivers, air conditioning in delivery vans, and more.

UPS is Georgia’s Largest Public Company to End Remote Work

With the new policy, UPS (NYSE: UPS) becomes Georgia’s largest public company to end remote work for corporate employees fully. Notably, the company’s decision doesn’t apply only to corporate employees at its global headquarters in Sandy Springs, Georgia. The decision will affect thousands of workers based on UPS campuses throughout the country. According to the corporate fact sheet on the UPS website, the company has over 500,000 total employees globally.
