OnTrac Launches Weekend Delivery, Will Expand to the Midwest
The regional carrier OnTrac will launch weekend delivery on Saturdays and Sundays this month, moving from a five-day schedule to a seven-days-per-week schedule for the majority of its network.
75% of OnTrac’s Network Will Move to Weekend Delivery This Month (March 2024)
OnTrac’s Chief Commercial Officer Josh Dinneen announced that the company is launching weekend delivery during a presentation at the Manifest Vegas 2024 conference. During his talk, Dinneen said that the change will come to roughly 75% of the carrier’s network, though he added that “there are some desert locations that [OnTrac] may not deliver on Saturday and Sunday.”
Per OnTrac’s website, eligible service areas will receive deliveries between 8 AM and 9 PM local time on the weekends.
OnTrac’s Expansion to Chicago & Other Parts of the Midwest Will Begin in July
According to Dineen, on top of rolling out weekend delivery for 75% of its network, OnTrac will begin delivering parcels throughout the Chicago metropolitan area and more parts of the Midwest in July, including “St. Louis up through Minneapolis.”
The Carrier Currently Services 35 States & Washington, D.C.
OnTrac’s website states that the company currently services 35 states and Washington, D.C. The company claims that its total service area covers around 70% of the U.S. population. Most of the states where the company doesn’t currently offer service are located in the Midwest, such as North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Nebraska, Montana, Wyoming, Iowa, and others. Outside of Dineen’s remarks of servicing “St. Louis up through Minneapolis,” it is unclear which additional Midwestern states OnTrac plans to expand to after it launches deliveries in Chicago in July.
OnTrac Has Been a Part of LaserShip Since 2021
OnTrac began in 1991 in South San Francisco, California, as a private logistics company that offered regional shipping services in the Western part of the United States. In 2021, the Virginia-based regional carrier LaserShip acquired OnTrac for $1.3 billion, and the combined company later rebranded itself back to OnTrac.
