US Mail Temporarily Suspended at Baghdad Airport
Due to recent strife in the area, USPS has suspended acceptance for mail and parcels passing through the Baghdad airport. This suspension on mail and parcel collection is only temporary, and goes into effect today (Monday, January 13th). This temporary suspension comes at the request of the Department of Defense (DoD) Military Postal Service Agency.
The Military Zip Codes the Baghdad Airport Mail Suspension Will Affect
The list of Department of Defense zip codes affected by the mail suspension are as follows:
- 09305 – BDSC
- 09308 – BESMAYA COMBAT TRAINING CENTER
- 09333 – AL ASAD AIR BASE
- 09348 – FOB UNION III
- 09378 – CAMP TAJI
- 09381 – AL TAQQADUM AIRBASE
- 96610-0800 – SPMGTAF 2/7 DET9
- 96610-1500 – TF SPARTAN 20.1
Will My Recipient Receive Any Mail or Packages I Recently Sent?
If you are shipping to a military address that contains one of the above zip codes, don’t worry. This suspension for mail passing through the Baghdad airport is only temporary, and will likely lift as soon as the Department of Defense deems it safe. For now, mail and parcels destined for these zip codes will be placed on hold in the care of the Military Postal Service Agency until the Department of Defense lifts the suspension.
